Pink Cross helps household of 5 affected by a home fireplace in North Miami Seashore

Tonight, local American Red Cross volunteer members of the Greater Miami & The Keys Chapter’s Disaster Action Team responded to a house fire on NE 6th Avenue in the city of North Miami Beach, Florida. The disaster-trained team helped coordinate emergency relief to five (5) people affected by the fire, including three (3) children.

The Red Cross provides emergency financial assistance, health and mental health services, individual assistance to connect people with available recovery aid, and will continue to provide additional support to families to meet their disaster-related needs.

The Disaster Action Team is a group of local, specially trained, volunteer helpers from the Red Cross who are ready 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to intervene in these emergencies. Disaster Response Team volunteers also provide emotional support and information to help families begin the recovery process. Disaster relief from the Red Cross is free and made possible through donations to the Red Cross.

Red Cross volunteers have been trained to follow appropriate safety procedures and protocols to continue serving communities affected by local disasters during the coronavirus outbreak.
