MIAMI BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) – A boat driver who has been missing for over a day is searched near Biscayne Bay.

Reynier Marino, 36, was reported missing late Tuesday evening after his damaged boat was found along the Julia Tuttle Causeway a few hours after surfacing.

Rescue workers searched for Marino from the air and on the water all Wednesday.

The crews continued their search on Thursday.

Loved ones have identified Marino as an experienced and avid boater. He is also the owner of Hellkats Boats.

“Unfortunately, things happen and it always happens to good people,” said friend Marcos Suarez. “It’s sad to think that so many people knew who he was, that he was a good guy and should have helped us look for him.”

They said Marino left Pelican Harbor Marina around 7pm to test a boat.

He had just sold the boat and the new boat owner was waiting for him at the marina.

After a while, the new boat owner started calling others when Marino didn’t come back.

“He contacted his wife, my girlfriend, and told her he was missing,” said one woman.

Two of Marino’s friends went looking for him and found the boat with damage to the front.

They then called the authorities, which initiated the search.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials hauled the boat back to the marina and have been looking for Marino ever since.

7SkyForce hovered over the scene where multiple agencies were doing the search.

One woman who asked us not to show her face said Marino was like a brother to her.

“He was a great man,” said the woman. “He was very committed, always in a good mood and helped people.”

FWC officers hauled the boat back onto the bank. The front of the boat is visibly damaged.

As the search for the missing boater continues, those closest to Marino said they prayed he would be found soon.

“Just hope for the best, just hope for the best,” said Suarez.
