Video reveals Miami Seashore officers rescuing four from tough waters after boat capsized – NBC 6 South Florida

New video shows the dramatic rescue by Miami Beach Police of four people whose boat capsized in rough waters.

The incident happened around 10 p.m. Monday when the department’s Marine Patrol Unit responded to reports of the capsized vessel south of government cut.

Crews worked through rough weather conditions with limited visibility to find the capsized boat and when they did, they found two people clinging to the vessel and two others in the water, officials said.

Body camera footage released by police on Wednesday showed officers racing to find the boaters in the dark.

Officers tossed them life jackets but one person was concerned for his friend, who appeared to be severely fatigued and in distress, officials said.

The officers were able to lift that person into the boat and help the others to safety.

All four were taken to be checked out by fire rescue workers.

“The swift and decisive actions of our officers represent the highest standards of professionalism and courage,” Miami Beach Police Chief Wayne A. Jones said in a statement. “Confronted with uncertainty and challenging conditions, our team, along with the responding units, utilized their training effectively to save lives.”
