Miami Seashore restaurant and membership house owners are combating again towards proposed regulation to finish the get together early
MIAMI BEACH, Florida. – The battle for the safety of Miami Beach is growing.
Restaurant and club owners say the proposed last call bill will destroy their businesses rather than curb crime.
It’s an ongoing debate that is likely to end soon, and the race for voters is heating up … Miami Beach style.
On Wednesday, Mangos Tropical Cafe spoiled a group of seniors with a dinner and show to convince them to vote against resetting the last call time from 5 a.m. to 2 a.m. in the entertainment district.
“I am concerned about my safety and that of my neighbors, but I am also concerned about the economic impact the rollback on the beach will have,” one of the guests told Local 10 News.
City officials say the proposed withdrawal is in response to months of chaos, bad behavior and even deadly crime in the city.
Hotel owner Mitch Novick says it’s time.
“The rollback is necessary, we have to break this party until you drop the image,” Novak said.

City officials approved the change in May, but it was reversed after a judge ruled it violated zoning rules and corporate right to due process.
Mango’s owner points to more policing in response to the problem of violence. He believes resetting the last call will be his and put other businesses at a dangerous loss.
“The money goes not just to me, but to my employees,” said Mango’s owner David Wallace.
