Ceremony in honor of the daddy who was killed in entrance of the household in Miami Seashore – WSVN 7News | Miami Information, Climate, Sports activities

MIAMI BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) – A ceremony was held in Miami Beach to honor a Colorado father who died defending his family from an armed man while they had dinner at a sidewalk cafe.

Dozens gathered on the street of La Cerveceria next to the 1400 block of Ocean Drive Tuesday to pay tribute to 21-year-old Dustin Wakefield.

“The pain is like no other, along with the nightmare,” said one person who learned to write from Wakefield’s mother. “It was a cold blooded murder, and the visions of it are heartbreaking. He was an angel on earth, a perfect son, husband and father. “

Those who attended the ceremony can very well be seen holding flowers, praying, and singing songs as they surround Wakefield’s image.

The 21-year-old’s family and friends mentioned he bravely did what any father would do after a stranger pointed a gun at his one-year-old son on Aug. 24.

“He did it to protect his son,” said cousin Sabrina Berlin.

“He was very attached to his family,” said family friend Vicky Furr. “He just adored his wife and really adored his son.”

A cell phone video showed the alleged killer, 22-year-old Tamarius Davis from Norcross, Georgia, who appeared to be dancing on the terrace of the restaurant shortly after the recordings. Another video showed him being arrested by Miami Beach police officers in a nearby alley.

According to police, Davis informed officers that he was excessive with mushrooms and randomly picked two men to shoot.

In a video obtained from the Miami Herald, Davis is apparently seen photographing another person near Ocean Drive just before the alleged shot at Wakefield.

“Is there an amount for the second-degree fee?” Davis petitioned Miami-Dade District Court judge Mindy Glazer in the bond courtroom last week.

“It’s not a bond,” replied the decision maker. “You are being held without commitment. You shot someone in cold blood. “

For Wakefield’s friends and family, his legacy will forever be remembered.

“Death is always sad, but just knowing that it is absolute – there was no rhyme or reason for it, it just feels so pointless,” said family buddy William Furr.

Davis, meanwhile, is faced with the prices for attempted second degree murder and second degree murder with a gun.
