When Lost BoyRandy Alonso, Chris Hudnall and Chris Hudnall & Co. founded Lost BoyDry Goods in Downtown Miami, they had other ideas than starting another trendy pub.

“The goal was to create a sense of community and neighborhood in the downtown area that we felt was lacking in the area at the time,” Hudnall told the New Times.

Alonso’s great-grandfather and great-uncle, La Epoca, was one of the largest department stores in the country in Havana in the 1950s. The shop, like many others, was destroyed by the revolution. In 1965 they reopened La Epoca and opted for a ground floor room. in the DuPont building in Miami, later the Walgreens building across the street was expanded.

Alonso, who is from Alonso’s hometown, said, “As I got older, my vision was to create a region with thriving businesses” in the area.

He took his first steps in 2015 when he and his brother opened a boutique for cowboy boots and denim.

“It was a hint to open Lost BoyDry Goods in the original La Epoca Miami, which Alonso calls“ Home ”. “But it was short-lived. The department store was closed. 2017 – the end of the two-year denim shop. After so many hours, I couldn’t give up the DuPont division. I’ve always wanted to own a bar but they didn’t know much about the business or where to start.

Hudnall is a longtime friend and hotel professional in Arizona. Mondrian South has a wealth of experience. BeachSoho Beach House in Alonso and his luggage turned the store into a boutique. Lost BoyDry Goods opened in 2018.

Nestled in the Mediterranean corridor of Española Way in South Beach, the Andalusian tapas gin bar, whose name means “stumble” in Spanish, is slated to open next month at Esmé Miami Beach. The cozy restaurant barRaymond Li, the local chef, cooks Spanish classics.
