There’s a high rip current risk through 7 am Wednesday for waters off the sands of Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties, the National Weather Service announced Monday morning.
So, take note, beach swimmers in Key Biscayne, Miami Beach, Haulover Park, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, Palm Beach and all points in between, “Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water,” the NWS says.
If you feel the need to go in the water:
▪ Swim near a lifeguard.
▪ Relax and float if you get caught in a rip current.
▪ Do NOT try to swim against the rip current.
▪ Try to follow the shoreline as you float or swim.
▪ If you can’t get out of the rip current, don’t be shy — face the shore, yell and wave your arms for help.
