More than 80 fire rescue teams are responding to a partial building collapse north of Miami Beach this morning and rescue operations are underway, officials said.

It was a high-rise condominium building and rescues from trapped residents were underway, reports CBS Miami.

According to CBS Miami, a man evacuated from a nearby hotel said, “The building – one of those huge buildings – is gone! … the building – it’s gone. … The whole building is gone. … Oh my God. It’s the craziest thing I’ve ever seen in my life. “

It is unclear whether there are injuries. Miami Beach Police and Fire Department respond to the Surfside building.

Several police and fire departments from across Miami-Dade County are also helping.

#MDFR is at the site of a partial building collapse near 88 Street & Collins Avenue. Over 80 MDFR units including #TRT are in action with the support of the city fire brigades. Updates will be posted on Twitter as soon as they are available.
