Video exhibits Corvette hitting police cruiser whereas fleeing site visitors cease in Miami Seashore – NBC 6 South Florida

Surveillance video shows the moments the driver of a white Corvette flees a traffic stop, hitting a Miami Beach Police cruiser in the process.

The incident happened Tuesday in the 100th block of 9th Street near Collins Avenue, according to an arrest report.

An officer pulled over the Corvette for playing loud music, and then asked the driver for his license, registration and proof of insurance, the report said.

The driver told the officer he was going to back up the car quickly, but instead he drove off, the report said.

The officer is heard screaming at the driver in the surveillance video as the Corvette hits the front of the police vehicle while fleeing.

Authorities arrested 26-year-old Anthony Banks a day later while he was taking the same vehicle for a car wash. Records show his license is suspended.

He is facing a slew of charges, including reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and driving without a license, records showed.
