The Clevelanders are suing Miami Seaside after rolling again 5 a.m. on the final name
MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Popular South Beach bar and hotel The Clevelander is suing the city of Miami Beach.
Attorneys representing the hotel filed the lawsuit in the Miami-Dade Circuit Court on Monday, saying, “The city has declared war on the famous entertainment district of South Beach.”
This comes just days after the commission reset the last call for businesses in the entertainment district on Ocean Drive at 5 a.m.
The commission also ended noise exemptions that would allow bars like The Clevelander to play live music.
The Clevelanders issued a statement that read in part:
“The city has been blindly trying to shut down every company in the entertainment district, regardless of whether or not that company has adhered to the city code in the past.
“And the city is ruthlessly pursuing this policy of blanket, indiscriminate business closure, even though the policy will result in thousands of dedicated hospitality workers losing their jobs and although the policy will result in a significant loss of tax revenue that will be replaced by more property need taxes on residents. “
