Take a look at Serena, the New Mexican Rooftop Lounge in Miami Seaside
The highly anticipated Moxy Hotel on South Beach has finally opened its doors and with it come a slew of new restaurants. The first debut is Serena (915 Washington Avenue), a light and airy rooftop restaurant and lounge whose design and culinary features hail from Oaxaca and Mexico City.
Under the direction of head chef Scott Linquist, the restaurant has, in addition to the teams who brought us Coyo Taco and 1-800-LUCKY, an outdoor kitchen in which guests watch how ground cornmeal is shaped into tortillas and then into dishes like uni and crab tostadas, pumpkin blossom quesadillas and chorizo huaraches. In addition to ceviches, small plates, salads, burgers and sandwiches, the menu also includes classic dishes such as Caesar salad, steak tartare and tuna tartare.

Designed by Saladino Design Studios, the space is inspired by the colorful works of modernist architect Luis Barragán and has a garden-like outdoor dining area that offers a choice of pink, orange, coral and blue tones with an eclectic mix of sofas, Banquets, upholstered wrought iron chairs, and ceramic tile table tops. Its domed cast iron canopy with twinkling lights and bougainvillea is a nod to popular Mexican markets.
