Michelle Simkins and Jason Rubell, members of two prominent Miami Beach families, paid about $ 10.8 million for a waterfront home on North Bay Road, adding to their real estate on posh street, The Real Deal learned.

Simkins is the daughter of the late Leon Simkins, CEO of Simkins Industries, a paper products company based in Miami Beach. Her husband Rubell is the Vice President of Rubell Hotels, his family business.

The couple acquired the 6,637-square-foot, four-bedroom home on 6500 North Bay Road from Dr. Philip Mirmelli and his wife Phyllis, as records show.

Mirmelli is also part of a well-known Miami Beach real estate family that includes brothers Greg and Andrew Mirmelli. Greg represented the couple in the sale.

Douglas Elliman’s Brett Harris represented the buyers.

The Mirmellis owned the two-story house for over 30 years. They acquired the 0.4 acre property, which was developed in 1950, for $ 530,000 in 1988. The cake-slice-shaped property faces La Gorce Island with a 210-foot waterfront.

Harris said the buyers plan to renovate or demolish the home but no decision has been made yet.

In September, a Simkins-affiliated company remodeled a home on Allison Island in Miami Beach for $ 9.1 million, about $ 4 million more than the previous year’s purchase price.

In January, a Simkins affiliate acquired the waterfront property at 6300 North Bay Road for nearly $ 10 million. It’s on the market for $ 26.5 million.

Waterfront home sales in Miami Beach have remained strong despite limited inventory.

On North Bay Road, where celebrities like Phil Collins and Dwyane Wade have owned homes, recent deals include the sale of his waterfront property by litigator Steve Zack for $ 13.6 million and the sale of the founder of Chicken Kitchen Christian de Berdouare and the former TV journalist Jennifer. Valoppis Spec-Villa.
