Miami Seaside Hosts 13th Annual Veterans Parade – WSVN 7News | Miami Information, Climate, Sports activities

MIAMI BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) – Cities across South Florida honor service members who fought valiantly for the United States.

Miami Beach is hosting its 13th annual parade on Thursday.

Last year the event took place virtually due to the pandemic, but it’s back.

“Very proud. Very proud,” said veteran Neil Miller. “Here we are in the greatest country in the world. I mean, wow.”

The event includes a march down Ocean Drive, from Fifth through 14th Streets, with floats, veterans, military groups, marching bands, and others.

It starts at 11:11 a.m. because the event begins on the 11th hour of the 11th.

At noon, the celebrations will move to Lummus Park, where the all-veteran parachute team will soar into the sky for a demonstration.

One woman who attended the event said her father is a Vietnam veteran and it means the world to her and her family to see them being celebrated.

“It’s a little different with us, I think because it was in a different time and he wasn’t celebrated,” she said, “but it’s great that everyone is celebrating them now.”

“That’s important, because that’s what we have this freedom for, that’s what people fight for,” said another man.

Several other ceremonies and events are held in South Florida.
