Lacking North Miami Seashore Teen Present in North Carolina Returns House – WSVN 7News | Miami Information, Climate, Sports activities
NORTH MIAMI BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) – A missing South Florida teenager who was in North Carolina has returned home.
Police said 15-year-old Jeimy Henriquez was playing a video game, Free Fire Max, on Saturday morning when she started talking to a stranger.
She went with the man later that night and was not seen or heard from until Sunday.
“I’m glad she’s back home and I’m grateful to God too,” said the victim’s mother, Ana Quintanilla. “She started crying when she saw me and we hugged. I know she regrets it. “
“This older man, and I use that word very lightly, came to North Miami Beach and picked up this young girl,” said North Miami Beach Police Chief Richard Rand.
Police found Henriquez out of state after calling her mother, crying and saying she was far away.
“We went to get gasoline and he was with his friend, brother and sister-in-law,” said Henriquez. “We were there for a while and then left. I called my mother to tell her I was fine and the next day I called her again to send her the address of where I was. “
Several law enforcement agencies worked together to trace her phone to North Carolina.
“This is a powerful reminder this holiday season that we need to be very careful about what our children are doing online,” Rand said.
Henriquez now has a warning for those of her age.
“Thinking about what you are doing and not leaving home for someone you meet online,” she said.
It remains unclear whether there have been any arrests.
