Bicycle owner arrested for hitting man in Miami Seaside as sufferer battles anxiousness, PTSD – WSVN 7News | Miami Information, Climate, Sports activities

MIAMI BEACH, FL. (WSVN) – Police have arrested a man in connection with a caning in Miami Beach that left the victim’s face bloody and his nose broken while the man who was assaulted went about his daily struggles in the months following the violent attack Splits.

Robert Moss, 23, was charged with battery in the July 31 incident.

The victim, who asked not to be identified, said Wednesday the beating was just the beginning of his ongoing ordeal.

“Aside from not having any feelings in parts of my face and nose that are still broken, I struggle with anxiety every day and [post-traumatic stress disorder],” he said.

Surveillance video captured the immediate aftermath of the incident.

According to Miami Beach Police, Moss was first doing wheelies on his bike, almost hitting pedestrians before the victim took offense. The pedestrian was badly beaten.

The victim described the incident to 7News in an August 6 interview.

“I felt the one hit and then they kicked me on the ground,” he said. “I was covered in a pool of blood.”

The victim’s wife also spoke to 7News on the phone.

“All bloody, his nose and face completely ripped open, and I was just absolutely horrified,” she said.

Sources said Moss, who is part of a group of notorious cyclists, according to 7News sources, was arrested after police released an internal department flyer.

The Miami-Dade Police Department gang unit took Moss into custody Monday after officers stopped a car in which he was a passenger.

Miami Beach police picked him up here at the MDPD’s Northside Substation.

To this day, the victim said, he is still shaken.

“I’m now hyper-aware of everything around me,” he said.

The victim is concerned that young men on bicycles will cause more trouble.

On Monday, Miami City Police said someone’s mirror was smashed when officers tried to assist at the Publix supermarket on Biscayne Boulevard and 48th Street.

Investigators called the incident “criminal mischief”. They said a report had been written but they hadn’t arrested anyone.

Since last spring, 7News has aired several stories about mobs of cyclists beating up citizens from Miami to Miami Beach.

“This bike gang is a message to our city, to our community,” said the victim of the July 31 caning.

“It’s like an epidemic,” his wife said. “Every single person in Miami Beach needs to know what’s going on, be alert, and learn to protect themselves from assault.”

Until Moss’ arrest on Monday, only juveniles had been arrested in connection with these cases.
