Founded in 2009 by Bertha González Nieves as a carefully crafted, slurping tequila, Casa Dragones is the first tequila brand to be registered as an official partner of Art Basel Miami Beach, joining other world-class luxury brands such as UBS, Audemars Piguet, NetJets and BMW . Casa Dragones will be the official partner of Art Basel Miami Beach, where it will host a hospitality area in the Collectors Lounge, designed by longtime friend and Mexican designer Hector Esrawe. Casa Dragones selected Studio Esrawe because their work fits perfectly with the brand’s desire to showcase the zeitgeist of contemporary Mexican design while respecting and modernizing age-old craft traditions.

Inspired by Casa Dragone’s acclaimed Tasting Room in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, which serves the acclaimed ultra-premium tequilas, the lounge also shows Casa Dragones’ continued commitment to Mexican craftsmanship. The concept of the original tasting room arose from the deep-seated desire to offer guests a moving, sensual experience with the terroir of Casa Dragones. The terroir was integrated into the space with obsidian, a naturally occurring volcanic glass found in the agave fields of Casa Dragones.

At Art Basel Miami Beach, the tasting room model is evolving with an innovative interpretation of sustainable contemporary Mexican design. The tasting room provides a nice, private setting for guests to enjoy the tasting ritual. The sumptuous space is crafted from translucent Mexican white onyx with brass accents. Stacked onyx columns and shelves are reminiscent of Mexico Basalt prisms, exquisite rock formations from ancient lava eruptions. Other design motifs come from the agave itself, with a diamond pattern from the pina of the plant from which tequila is made. A round bar is suitable for social interaction and intimate conversations.

A number of events will take place during the fair. Casa Dragones gives the guest bartender concept a creative twist with a series of “art tenders” appearing in its pop-up tasting room in the Collectors Lounge. Every day a well-known artist will act as a guest mixologist and present a first-class craft cocktail chosen by him. The line-up includes art tenders with renowned artists and creatives Jorge Mendez Blake, Brendan Fernandes Barbara Sanchez-Kane, Daniel Knorr, Jorge Pardo, Gabriel Rico, Cristóbal Riestra, Eduardo Sarabia, Marc Spiegler, and Rirkrit Tiravanjia.
