“I only saw him for a moment in the parking lot, walking past each other, and I just told him that he has my full support and that I will take care of him and that I appreciate his commitment,” said the mayor of North Miami Beach , Anthony DeFillipo.

The mayor claimed the resignation came after problems within the walls of the town hall, specifically City Manager Arthur H. Sorey, III.

“The boss wasn’t able to do his job without being micro-managed by the city manager,” says DeFillipo. “There was a lot of bullying and pushing around.”

The mayor fears that the resignation of the boss will have serious effects on the city.

“It’s going to really demoralize our police, our officers and staff, and the people who leave here every day,” says DeFillipo.

CBS4 News reached out to city manager Sorey for a response to the mayor’s allegations but has received no response.

Rand grew up in the city and was named boss in February of that year.
