Miami Seaside condominium hearth investigation ongoing – NBC 6 South Florida

On Thursday morning, a fire broke out in an unoccupied apartment in Miami Beach, forcing residents to stay in the entire building.

The fire broke out shortly after 3:30 am in the St. George Complex at 605 Euclid Avenue. The Miami Beach Fire Department was dispatched to the scene shortly afterwards and found that smoke and flames were coming from a unit.

Bystanders tried to open the windows to help anyone inside, but later found the apartment was empty.

Ilhan Korkmaz, who lives in the unit, left about two hours before the fire broke out.

“You just told me the bed was burned,” he said.

The crews were able to bring the fire under control shortly afterwards. The fire was limited to the single unit, but the building was evacuated as a precaution. Nobody was injured.

Korkmaz believes an electronic item or scooter started the fire, but fire investigators are still investigating the cause.
