MIAMI BEACH, Florida. – Police are looking for multiple suspects following a seemingly random attack in Miami Beach.
Police said the victims were walking west on 9th Street and approaching Mega Pizza on 865 Collins Avenue.
As they passed the pizzeria, police said a man standing in front of the restaurant with a group of four other people had hit one of the victims several times.
Another victim tried to stand between the first suspect and the victim, and then a woman from the group grabbed the second victim by the hair and threw her to the ground, police said.
“Today was a little too heavy for my taste,” said Mitch Novick, owner of the Sherbrooke Hotel.
Firefighters responded and after treating the first victim at the scene, they eventually took him to Mount Sinai Medical Center.
The victim has severe injuries to the face.
“It seemed like he remained unconscious even after the police arrived,” Novick said.

Miami Beach police said the crime scene officials were unable to respond to the crime immediately because they were working in an active scene elsewhere in the city.
