Alberto Campo Baeza, one of the most famous architects in Spain, wants to bring his first commercial building in the USA to South Beach.

New York-based Sumaida + Khurana has teamed up with Bizzi & Partners, based in Milan and New York, to hire Campo Baeza for the office project. The building would span 56,177 square feet over five stories at 944 5th St. and 411 Michigan Avenue.

The developers acquired the 21,000-square-foot property through 411 Michigan SoFl Owner LLC in June for nearly $ 9 million. It currently has a small office building.

“[Baeza’s] The work speaks for the shared beliefs of both companies to create timeless buildings that are context appropriate and carefully consider the historic architecture of neighborhoods like South Beach, “said Davide Bizzi, CEO of Bizzi & Partners.

Campo Baeza won the Spanish National Prize for Architecture in 2021.

The Miami office building yet to be named would have high ceilings, open floor plans, private outdoor patios, a rooftop deck, fitness center, dining options, and a white concrete, glass, and marble facade.

The developers also hired Gabellini Sheppard Associates from New York as interior designer and Urban Robot Associates from Miami as landscape designer. Cube 3 from Miami is the executive architect. They hope to break the ground in summer 2022.

“Alberto Campo Baeza’s buildings are known for their clear design and subtle details,” says Amit Khurana, founding partner of Sumaida + Khurana. “Similar to the other projects our companies have developed, Campo Baeza’s design offers the opportunity to deliver a building of exquisite craftsmanship and quality.”

Bizzi & Partners has experience building in Miami Beach as a co-developer of the Eighty Seven Park condominium. They partnered with Sumaida + Khurana to build buildings in the United States, and this Miami Beach office would be the first.

According to the Newmark report for the third quarter, the Miami Beach office market had a vacancy rate of 6%, well below the nationwide vacancy rate of 15.8%. So far this year there has been a positive area absorption of 20,165 square feet. Miami Beach has attracted many wealthy residents from high-tax countries over the past year, and some of them are also relocating their businesses to the city.
