Man arrested in reference to Miami Seaside sexual battery; sources say suspect is intercourse offender from Illinois – WSVN 7News | Miami Information, Climate, Sports activities

HOLLYWOOD, FLA. (WSVN) – A man accused of sexual battery in Miami Beach was arrested in Hollywood, Miami Beach Police said.

Keith Hill Jr. was taken into custody on Friday, according to Miami Beach Police Chief Wayne Jones.

Hours later, 7News cameras captured Hollywood Police officers walking the 30-year-old suspect into the Broward County Jail.

Hill is accused of sexually assaulting a woman on the Beachwalk, between 23rd and 24th streets, early Tuesday morning.

“There will be extensive charges,” said Miami Beach Police spokesperson Christopher Bess.

Chilling security video captured the victim was rollerblading along the Beachwalk. Moments later, Hill is seen grabbing her from behind and bringing her down to the ground.

The footage shows the victim as she struggled, kicking with her roller blades still on. As the suspect choked her, she eventually stopped.

She was then pulled into the bushes, where the attacker continued his crime before he fled on foot.

The woman was later taken to the hospital.

Miami Beach Police officers immediately hit the streets in search of Hill. They also issued flyers with pictures of Hill, as the department made it their mission to track down the assailant.

With these images and help from the public, detectives were able to locate and capture Hill after they spotted him on Hollywood Beach and recognized him from the flyers.

“MBPD remains committed to monitoring the case closely and collaborating with the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office,” Jones wrote in a post to social media.

According to 7News sources, Hill is a registered sex offender out of Illinois, where authorities said he committed aggravated sexual abuse on a victim between the ages of 13 and 16, violating his sex offender status at the time. Now he’s got new chances to contend with.

“We are working hand in hand with the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office to pursue the maximum charges that we can at this time,” said Bess.

Hill is expected to be transferred to Miami Beach from Broward and then taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in West Miami-Dade.

In addition to the charges he is currently facing in connection to the Beachwalk attack, Hollywood Police charged him with giving a false name and failing to register as a sex offender.
